Five hundred years at one address
The house takes its name from the sign above the door. Its history is documented from the early 16th century; centuries of rebuilding shaped it, but its character survived.
16th century
According to available records, the house dates back to the early 16th century. Later centuries brought successive alterations, the most significant in the second half of the 17th century and the early 19th century.
1664
The year carved into the lintel marks the Baroque rebuilding. The portal carries two cartouches. The upper one shows the Infant Jesus of Prague, the lower one a blue fox holding a vine branch in its mouth. This is the sign that gives the house its name.
1958
The year the house was listed as a protected monument. Before street numbering existed, house signs were how a Prague building was identified. Most of them have disappeared. The blue fox remains.
2002
Extensive renovation in the 1990s was followed by a complete overhaul of the interior and the exterior. A new roof, windows and doors custom-made to the original pattern, and a structure reinforced with steel beams.

An address you cannot replicate
Kampa is one of the last places in Prague where history is not a backdrop but part of ordinary life. The island, held between the Vltava river and the Čertovka canal, keeps the quiet and greenery of the Lesser Town while putting you minutes on foot from the very centre of the city.
Only a handful of houses on Kampa come to market in any given decade. That is why Kampa cannot be replaced: the supply is finite.

Behind the historic facade

The house has three floors of 118.29 m², 119.83 m² and 117.29 m². A terrace with an upper gallery adds 27.71 m². Total floor area, cellar included, is 414.17 m² on a plot of 168 m².
The interior kept exactly what people buy historic houses for: vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, natural stone floors. The property includes a maisonette apartment in the attic, a bespoke kitchen and a roof terrace.
The building services are to new-build standard. Central gas heating, underfloor heating in the bathrooms and in the attic, air conditioning and a ventilation system. The renovation renewed the plumbing, the bathrooms and the utility connections. The first floor and the attic have frameless glass doors with automatic locking.
